MMSWMD hosts first Colleges & Universities Recycling Summit

Discussion among college, university recycling leaders leads to acknowledgement that regional partnerships could make programs expansions feasible.

The MMSWMD Executive Board held a “College and University Recycling Summit” on September 9, 2009 for colleges and university recycling leaders in the eight county region of Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Howard, Moniteau and Osage.  The focus of the 2009 Summit was:

  • Networking between the District and College/University recycling leaders to share waste reduction ideas, resources and opportunities
  • Increasing recycling participation from  students and staff
  • Heightening awareness of school waste management and recycling programs and the District Grant Program
  • Addressing environmental issues
