National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is April 28th, 2018

There’s no doubt that opioid abuse is a national health care crisis. Leftover or unused medications, including opioids and others, should be disposed of as soon as possible.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day allows participants to turn in unused or expired prescription medications. This year’s event takes place across the country on April 28, 2018 and participants can use the online search tool hosted by the a U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to find a collection site location near them.

This program is offered in partnership between the DEA and local law enforcement agencies across the country – which is designed to educate the public on medication safety, storage and disposal. Although National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is not sponsored by OptumRx or UnitedHealthcare, we feel it is important information to share with you.
